Project Server 2007 Cumulative Update

Walid

Hello:

The Feb24th cumulative update (CU) is availabe and Christoph Fiessinger has
a nice blog on this:

http://blogs.msdn.com/chrisfie/arch...date-for-project-and-project-server-2007.aspx

I need to clarify something in his blog:

"......if you build a new Project Server 2007 farm, you can apply the latest
service pack (Service Pack 1), the latest WSS CU package and the latest
SharePoint CU package and be completely up-to-date..."

Does he mean MOSS 2007 when he says "the latest SharePoint" in above? Or do
should we just install the Project Server 2007 specific cumulative update?

Regards,

Walid

What he means to say is that you can install the SP1, Project Server CU and
the Sharepoint Services CU to be totally up to date. MOSS is of course not
required for EPM 2007.

Hope that helps,

Hello. I don't believe the infrastructure updates are part of the cumulitive
updates. From what i understand, the feb Cumulitive updates incorporate all
cumulitive updates to date but i believe the best way to be up to date is to
go SP1, then the infrastructure updates for WSS, infrastructure updates for
Office server, the the feb 2009 cumulitive updates for WSS and office server.
If project server is part of a moss farm then also ensure you run the moss
equivellant updates also. Same goes for the project server professional 2007
clients. Clients should be as up-to-date as the server. Hope this helps.

Actually, the IU is included in subsequent CUs. The "best practice"
recommendation from Brian Smith is to install in the order you state. I
believe this is mainly because you must update SharePoint with the IU before
installing Project Server IU. So, it is very important that an administrator
is aware of the IU collateral requirements when going from SP1 directly to
one of the recent CUs.
