Project to Access Dynamic Link

I would like to create a dynamic link between Project Files and an MS Access
Database (i.e. if I change information in one, the other is automatically
updated and vice versa). I thought if I saved the project through the ODBC
option, it would do that (before, our company used P3, and this was
possible). Is there something else I can do to create that dynamic link?

I am using MSP Standard 2003 and Access 2003.

Hi,

You can't do a dynamic link, but you can save projects to Access. See
pjdb.htm in one of Project's folders for details. If you then carefully
change data (follow instructions in the pjdb.htm file CAREFULLY) when you
open the project again it's successfully updated.

Rod – Thanks for the quick reply; appreciated it. Can I ask for more
information? In a test .mpp file, I Saved As ODBC to MS Access, closed
Project, opened the Access file and changed some information (i.e. file
properties in msp_project table, task names in msp_tasks file, etc.). Then I
closed Access and went back to the Project file and there are no changes
there. I also tried (within the Project file) to Open via ODBC, and was
expecting to get the dialogue box I got when opening exel files asking me if
I want to Open as new file, Append or Merge. It simply opens the Access file
as a new Project.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!!!
