Project Web Access - Resource Reports - removed(deleted) status fl

Last request for help.

Every time we make a resource change to a project - it returns the old
assignment as well as the new. The old assignment has an X next to it. Is
there a custom filter that I can use? We run these reports by department and
we use generic resources many times - it is quite common to have many deleted
assignments cluttering these reports.

I am looking for a way to filter out the Deleted tasks. Or at least have
the flag export to excel so that we can sort and remove from there?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

You are better off posting in the project.server newsgroup as that's the one
where most project server experts hang out.

In response to some of your questions, Do you have master projects saved in
project server? If so, that explains your resource duplication. Best
practice is to never save master projects in project server.

When you use generic resources, do you replace them with real people closer
to the time? This is correct use for generic resources, rather than deleting
them. Use the Tools, Build Team from enterprise tool to replace generic
resources or the resource substitution wizard if you have skills etc set up.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am transferring all my questions to the
projectserver group. In the meantime, we do not use a master project. We do
have over 100 active projects that run somewhat concurrently and over 200
more that we have not archived (yet another topic for support)

The generic resources are placeholders in our projects and are replaced by
real resources following the process you outline below. We actually have
found that deleting the task line removes the task from the resource reports.
However, this is not a practical path for us to follow based on the
constraints and dependencies inherent to the tool.

Thanks again.
