I am trying to make the customized Shape Data visible in Properties read
only. Would anybody know how to do this?

with the shape selected, menu Window -> Show Shapesheet
in the Custom Properties section (called Shape Data in Visio 2007) you
will see your custom data, the Value cell, edit this so instead of
containing, say, "123", make it Guard("123").

Thanks for your help. Although you are able to type into the properties,
the original value is preserved and protected.
