Proposed Resources

Hi,

In the resource graph we can see the poposed allocation for a specific
resources.

But I do not know how to define that time as propsoed, not estimated, in MSP.

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Hi nde,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I'm not sure what you're after. The time estimates are those you've made
when inserting data in the Duration column - the number of working periods
between the start and finish of each task. When you assign a resource, its
working hours are based on the estimate you've provided in the Duration
field. Proposed hours are not an option.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Thanks Mike,

I agree with you. The thing is that you can have resources that can be
considered as proposed versus committed. Then this will be diplayed
differently in the resource graph.

Though the issue I ahve know is that I cannot specify a resource as proposed
for a specific task. It is either committed or proposed (booking type column)
for the entire project.

The idea here was more to push MSP to help on resources allocation, but I
guess I do not have the flexibility for now.

Thanks again,
Nde.

You're welcome, Nde :) You could give the proposed resource a new name by
eg putting a p at the end.

You're right,

I did that but the thing I noticed is that you lose track of overallocated
time. To see if my resource was overallocated, I selected both resources RES
& RESp (RESp being the one proposed as you suggested) but I noticed that MSP
consider the two resources as a whole, meaning 80 hrs per week compare to 40
hrs per wek, as a consequence, I do not see any overallocated time.

I am not suer but it appears that even if both resources work more than 80
Hrs, no overallocated time is displayed....strange.

Thanks anyway,
Nde
