Protecting a template

I

Ivan Debono

Hi all,

I have a template that I will give to users so they can create documents
based on this template. The template has a footer which I want to protect,
ie. when users create documents based on the template, the footer is still
displayed but not editable and not deleteable.

Is it possible to do it??

Thanks,
Ivan

It's possible to do this, but you'll hamstring users in the rest of the
document. Users often don't have any idea how to access a header/footer to
begin with, so just putting text there is sufficient to protect it from
inadvertent damage or tampering. Administrative restraints should do the
rest (threaten them with discharge if they don't follow instructions).
