Protecting the Budget Work column

When a project is baselined, the forecast work is automatically copied to the
Budget Work column. Is there any way that I can protect the Budget Work
column to stop users from changing any of the values in this column?

Peter,
Not really. You could protect the file as read-only but then users
wouldn't be able to make any changes to the "live" file. They could
however make changes and then do a Save As to a new filename.

The best defense against users making changes they are not supposed to
is training. If your company doesn't already have a set of rules for
using Project, you would be wise to set something up. Then train the
users and expect them to follow the rules. You can always put checks
into place (e.g. Compare Project Versions utility) to detect
unauthorized changes, but it all comes down to team players exercising
discipline.

Hi Peter,

If this is a real worry for you, I would be tempted to keep another original
copy of the file, or at least, a copy of the Baseline fields in Excel. But,
as John said - training and trust is the best way forward :)
