[PS2007] - Long time to save/publish

Hi,

Currently, the time needed to publish and save a project for Project Server
2007 takes about 10-13 sec as indicated in project professional 2007 but
initially when I first started using the project server 2007, the time to
save and publish is 2-4 sec. I also found that the check-in process takes
about 10 sec as well.

Is there any advice on how to speed out the save, publish and check-in
process?

Hi,
The time taken is a function of how loaded the server is, and it's
processing capability. it may just be that your server is now more loaded
than it was.

Suggest you initially focus on the performance of the SQL server. Also it's
worth checking out how many transactions are waiting in the Project Q.

Hi NZ Projects,

Thanks for pointing me to the SQL server performance. I stopped the SQL
integration services and notice quite significant improvement to save and
publish project plan (from 13 second to 8 second).

Now I am looking at other improvements in my SQL server to improve the speed
further. I have not set the project database to auto-shrink yet, do you think
this will affect the performance? My database is currently set to full
restore mode, just wonder whether I could set it to simple restore mode for
the projectserver databases.

Regards
Godrid
