PST file size

I have several very large pst files. When I created new
pst files and moved emails, etc from the old to the new,
the original pst files did not decrease in size. Is there
a reason for this?

You need to compact them. Open in Outlook, right-click on the file name,
choose properties and go to Advanced and Compact Now.
