PST file

I'm back from the brink with some damage on a pst file.
I now have one that is about 1.9GB. I've archived a
whole bunch of emails and checked in Outlook for folder
properties. All the folder and subfolder sizes add up to
about 400MB. Yet my pst file (viewed in Explore) shows
the size to be 1.9GB. Any thoughts?

Outlook doesn't clean up the empty space once occupied by now-deleted items
until yoiu compact the file or your machine has enough idle time to compact
it in the background.

Right-click on the folder root, choose Properties, click Advanced, then
Compact Now.
