Publisher 2 won't install

Version 2 will not install on my laptop. Get "Bootstrp
caused an error in KRNL386.exe".
Any help out there. I love the old program and want to use
it on my laptop.

You should love the old program. Publisher 2.0 was one of the great
versions. Publisher 97 is the next great practical functional version with
Merge added. Publisher 2003 to be released next month is the next best
version after Publisher 97, but there is still no way I would remove
Publisher 97. If you find a second hand copy of Publisher 97, I would
highly recommend you buy it. Publisher 97 runs perfectly on all versions
of Windows including XP.

Sorry, cannot help you with your problem, I cannot remember for the life of
me what the fix was. I doubt Publisher 2.0 is still in the MS Knowledge
Base.

Also, try these steps:

To resolve this problem, remove the "bootstrp" entry from the Compatibility
section of your Win.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:
1.. Click the Start menu, and then click Run.
2.. In the Run box, type win.ini, and then click OK.
3.. Click Find on the Search menu. In the Find What box, type
[Compatibility], and then click Find Next. Click Cancel to dismiss the Find
dialog box.
4.. Look for a line in the [Compatibility] section that contains the
following text

BOOTSTRP=

and type a semicolon (;) in front of this line.
5.. Click Save on the File menu. Click Exit on the File menu.
6.. Restart Microsoft Windows and run the Microsoft Publisher 2.0 Setup
program
