Publisher 2002 fonts change in Web Preview

Betty

Hello!
I don’t know if you are available to answer this question.
I have published my web pages in Publisher 2002 for several years.
Now, my fonts are starting to appear distorted in web view.
I’m using Trebouchet, regular.
In webpage preview they appear bold and blurry.

This happened to fonts on a web page I’d previously published.
When I went to publish it again, the fonts change.

I am up-to-date on Windows service packs.

Have spent hours trying to figure this out.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Did you mean "Trebuchet" instead of "Trebouchet"?
Trebuchet MS is a web friendly font
I tried it using publisher 2002 and 2007 viewing it with IE 7 and both look
good
What OS are you using?
What browser are you using?
Post the url please

Thanks for the prompt response! Yes, I meant Trebuchet.
I'm using XP. Have tried both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 5.
Here's the URL for a sample. Click on the "what you'll find" link on the
first page and you'll see a sample of how text in Trebuchet is appearing.

its because your text has been turned into an image, a .gif image. this can
be caused by overlapping elements, or non-web safe fonts...run Design
Checker, it may provide some insight.

Hi Betty,

Rob is correct that the text has been converted to an image in the text box.
If you go to your What you will find page:
http://www.bettysloft.com/default_files/page0002.htm
and try to left click, drag to select the text in the text box, you will
notice that you can't, because it has been converted to an image. Try the
same thing on the title, and you can select it.

In this case the reason the text has been converted is because of a fill
color being used in the text box. You can either change your design so that
there is no fill in your text boxes, or there is a workaround that will give
you the same effect.

In your Pub file, right click the text box and copy, then paste that text
box back onto the page. In the original text box, delete the text and leave
the fill color. In the copy of the text box, remove the fill color and leave
the text. Now drag the copy with the text and no fill over the original text
box with just the fill color. You want the text box with the fill color
behind the text box with the text and no fill color. Use the Arrange tools
to send the fill color text box to the back if necessary. Also turn on the
Snap To feature and the text boxes will line up easily. Do not group the two
together or that will also result in the two text boxes being combined into
an image.

Now when you publish your web pages, the text should remain text, and it
should still have a white background.

By the way, do you happen to have a copy of Pub 2000 or 2003? Pub 2000 did
not have the fill color problem and there are advantages to using Pub 2003+.
Unfortunately Pub 2002 is the most hobbled version of Publisher for web
building. MSFT messed it up when they adopted Publisher into the Office
family in Office 2002. Here are a couple references:

Thanks for your prompt and helpful answers! I think I can get beyond this
now, and will look into using a different version of Publisher.
Best wishes!
