i wanted to know if you need to have Microsoft Word to be able to use
Microsoft Publisher 2003? Will it work with other word processors? or just
Microsoft Word? Thank you.

You may use Word to edit stories, but you can edit stories directly in
Pub2003 as well.

So, no need to have Word.

In addition to Terje's advice, it's important to know that Publisher will
not automatically create endnotes, footnotes nor will it create an index.
These all have to be done manually. This is one of the main reasons Word has
an advantage over Word in this particular area.
