Publisher 97 can't open publisher 95 files

I have a user who has over a hundred Publisher 95 files and she upgraded to
Publisher 97. Now if she tries to open a .pub file (from Publisher 95) it
says it can't open it in this version. I understand that 95 would not be
able to open 97 but It seems strange that 97 can't open 95 files.
I'd recommend that she upgrade to Publisher 2002 or 2003, but I don't know
if they can open Publisher 95 files either.
Anybody know of a way to open Publisher 95 files in 97 or if 2003 can open
95 files???

Thanks

If your friend has recently upgraded from 95 to 97, chances are her system
is too old to run 2003.

There should be no issues opening Publisher 95 files with Publisher 97 (or
newer). Does she happen to be running any Norton Antivirus?

Are sure are you of the version number that each publication was created it?

Do you have a virus program? Norton will interfere if script blocking is enabled.
Office plug-in can be a problem as well, in Norton options, misc., clear Office
Plug-in. If you have any other anti-virus software, disable it while you try the
conversion. I can open 95 with 97 without any problems. 2003 will open 95 files, the
formatting undergo some change.

The user is in a different state so i can't look myself, but the program says
publisher 97 and she claims they are Publisher 95 files. I may have to have
her send me a few files to try to get more info. Yes, she is running Norton
A/V version 8 (corporate). Why?
She is due for a new PC, I'll probably get her a new or newer system which
would be running 2000 or XP pro. Does Publisher 2003 open all of the
previous versions back to Publisher 95?
Thanks.

See Mary's Sauers post about the known issues related to Norton and openin
different versions of Publisher files.

Publisher 2003 can open Pulisher 2.0 files and newer.
