Hello. We're still running Publisher 98 here at work and we have an error
message on a few machines that we cannot get rid of.
The error is "Publisher cannot create a temproary working file." I've
googled the error and found that it's due to users saving Publisher files to
the network (which Publisher 98 was designed not to work with), which this
group is doing. However, when they tried to create files and save them
locally, they still get the error. I also followed MS's suggestion of
selecting all of the doc, copying, then pasting to a blank one and saving
locally, but the error still appears.
Thinking that a repair/reinstall would work, I tried that and it doesn't.
So, I removed the user's profile and had her create a new one and that didn't
work.
Now, the users do not have local admin rights to their PCs. Is there a
particular folder or files that I can grant admin access to that would
resolve this issue? I wonder, because when I log in, I have no issues. The
only thing left that I can think of is to reimage the PC or have their group
purchase Publisher 2003. Now, does Publisher 2003 allows users to
save/edit/create files on network shares?
