Publisher Dies on Vista

L

Leigh

When I start up Publisher on a laptop running Vista, I select the template I
wish to use and before being able to type anything, I get a pop-up telling me
Publisher had an error, and would I like to send the error report.

Then Publisher shutsdown.

Any ideas how I can get around this.

Thanks

It's Publisher with Office Pro 2007 running on Windows Vista Home Premium.

I've installed the same version onto a PC with win XP with no problems.

It looks like the Norton install program is on the laptop but has not been
installed.
I'm going through applying any and all available patches to see if that
helps.

I've installed ALL patches and the problem still occurs. It is also
happening with PowerPoint. The other Office apps seem to be fine.

Very strange.

Does this mean you are not running a virus program?

Thanks for that, but not in this case. I can't even start a new publisher or
PowerPoint document from a template.

Are you getting the template from the Office site or is it one built into
Publisher or PowerPoint?

If you are trying to use a template from the Office site it could be your
Internet temporary cache is full, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options,
delete files.

Check your firewall, is it giving you access?

I give up. I've blown away Vista and put XP on and everything is working
correctly. Hmmmm Vista!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for your ideas.
