Publisher looking for graphics in "wrong" directory

The Kat

I keep my graphics files on a separate drive from my program files. Even
though I set Publisher to look for pictures there, it still goes to the
program drive and the sparse PUB60COR files. All the other Office programs
look to my Microsoft Clip Organizer for clip art; Publisher still goes to the
program drive.

How can I convince it to look for clip art where I store my clip art?

Are you saying the clipart search pane does not open when you select insert
clipart?

1.On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
2. In the Insert Clip Art task pane, in the Search text box, type a word or
phrase that describes the clip you want, or type the file name of the clip. (You
can also type only a portion of the file name of the clip.)
3. To narrow your search, do one or both of the following:
.. To limit search results to a specific collection of clips, in the Search in
box, click the arrow and select the collections you want to search.
.. To limit search results to a specific type of media file, in the Results
should be box, click the arrow and select the check box next to the types of
clips you want to find.

4. Click Search. Note: To clear the search criteria fields and begin a new
search, below the Results box, click Modify.

Tip: If you don't know the exact file name, you can substitute wildcard
characters for one or more real characters. Use the asterisk (*) as a substitute
for zero or more characters in a file name. Use the question mark (?) as a
substitute for a single character in a file name.

5. In the Results box, click the clip to insert it.

The PUB60COR directory stores clipart for the wizards.

Can you open the Organizer from start, Microsoft Office Tools?

I can open MCO from the tools link. It shows the clip on D:\ as it should and
the catalogue on C:\ under my user name. That seems to be functioning
correctly, but Publisher does not seem to look in that directory; the clips I
use often in Word do not appear in Pub, even though they are jpg format.

Thanks for explaining the PUB60COR. That is nuts, but... Why can't the
wizards use the same graphics source as the other office files? That's how I
end up with duplicate files eating loads of space on my computer!

Have you ever let the Organizer go out and gather all the graphics files on your
hard drives? Open the Organizer from start, Microsoft Office Tools, File, add
clips to the Organizer.

That is what makes this so annoying! MSO HAS organized the clips. The D:\
link to slips works in Word, Excel, Access - even FP2002. Publsher is the
ONLY program that ignores it. Even though I know the clip art is in the
organizer, Pub still shows it as a web-access clip. My hair is getting
thinner by the day... I'd appreciate any hints on getting Pub to look at the
myriad D:\ clips instead of the limited supply of C:\ clips.
