I recently got a job that requires me to use MS Publisher.
I have never used it, but have a CD-ROM (original) that
apparently came with my computer, but was never installed.
My computer USED to be an NEC (bought in 1997), but has
been upgraded so many times that it's a hodge-podge of
components right now!

Anyway, when I tried to install the Publisher program, it
asked for the 20-digit product ID, but that's not anywhere
on the CD packaging and I can't find anyway to contact
Microsoft! Can anyone help?

Your version of Publisher is probably Publisher 97. You will be unable to
get a CD key from Microsoft (you would be unable to get one from Microsoft
anyway, as they don't provide support for OEM versions), and your vendor
will almost certainly have lost any way they had of giving you a replacement
key.
I would suggest asking your employer to get you a newer version of
Publisher, as you require it in order to do your job. Publisher 2003 is
well worth the money.

I forgot to mention that it's Publisher for Win 95. I
can't find any other info because I can't install it!

Publisher 95 is an antiquated version, you will be unable to source a CD Key
for it anywhere legitimate.
I suggest, as I did before, asking your employer for a new version.

You might be able to do a search via google for a cd-key for your old
version of Publisher.
