Not unless your are reformatting your entire computer and don't back them
up. If all you are doing is a simple upgrade, nope. :)

Just for the record, which publishers are compatible re. output.. I produced
my two cards for the competition on Publisher 2002, and Brian had problems
with them..

Generally, Publisher 98 and 2000 uses pretty much the same features. If a file will
not open at all it is usually a graphic that is the cause or an associated program
has been removed such as Microsoft Draw 98.

Thanks for that.. I have seen more than a few posts related to various
versions of Publisher that are seemingly unable to handle files saved in a
previous version..

Until I installed Publisher 2002, I had avoided Publisher like the plague..
my sister used earlier versions with varying degrees of success, but I
always used PagePlus (a PageMaker look-a-like).. had Publisher not been part
of my MS Office 2003 version, I would probably still use PagePlus.. I have
not discounted the possibility even now.. I think that if I were to need a
DTP more than I do presently, the Serif option would be 'locked and
loaded'..

The one issue where the Serif product is way ahead is preparation of
'artwork' for professional printing.. MS Publisher seems to be regarded as
'play' software, which is maybe a little unfair in view of how Publisher has
matured over the years..

Another area is the ability to output PDF directly without the need for
Acrobat or another pdf program.
