I have several pc's running xp pro and publisher 98. When I go to save a file in Publisher, I receive the following message:

Publisher cannot create a temporary working file.

Any suggestions?

Are you saving to a local hard drive or to a network drive?

What happens if you use Save As instead of Save, and save to a different
file name?

How much free disk space have you got?

Are you logged in as a local administrator?

It is always better to save the publication to your local hard drive.
