Publishing in Frontpage 2002 problems w/ mulitple websites

W

Woodie Perkins

I have 5 websites that I publish to and now frontpage seems to take my last
website and asks me for my id/password (for frontpage extensions) but also
puts one website name as the default and I can only publish to that website
now. when I try to publish to the other websites i get..."Could not find a
web server at 'www.woodieperkins.com' Please check to make sure that the web
server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly. If you are
sure everything is correct, the web server may be temporarily out of
service." I don't believe I have port/security issues because I can publish
to the one website, the problem is that I can not select a different website
to publish to, because when I press the publish button, it says attempting to
publish to the correct website, however in gray font it puts in the other
website I have which has a different id/password. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Use File | Publish instead of Publish. Publish only remembers the *last*
site you published to.

I tried the File/Publish Web...and I am getting the same issue. I get two
dialog boxes when trying to publish. The one box at the top of it
states...connect to www.woodieperkins.com, however in the gray area of the
box it has a different domain name that I have (fishershomeforsale.com) and
towards the bottom of the box it asks for username and password. The problem
is that FP2002 will not allow me to change the domain name in the gray area
(fishershomeforsale.com)

The other box is a publish web dialog box with the correct domain name
however, I can not change anything on it due to the other opened dialog box
which must be entered first. Any Ideas?? Thanks for your help.

1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Then try the File Publish Web and type your URL in as http://www.woodieperkins.com/

Thanks Stefan, I tried what you suggested, however I still have the same
problem. I did not find any FP Temp Files what is the name of their file
extensions?, and I did delete all the *.web files in the cache subdirectory.
Any other ideas? Thanks.

S

Stefan B Rusynko

If you open in address bar %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp and it is empty , there are none to delete
- extensions will be same as those of the files in your web

There is a tool to clear all at
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm

Can you even open your FP web using File Open Site and type your URL in as http://www.woodieperkins.com/
Or by browsing to it in IE and using Fie Edit w/ FP

I used the 95isalive.com tool to clear out all of the temp files and I still
have the same problem.

I even tried the approach of using the browswer going to my domainname
browsing to it in IE and using Fie Edit w/ FP. What happens with this is the
same, I get a dialog box with keys in it and it says connecting to
http://www.woodieperkins.com at the top. However in the middle of the pane
in the gray area it says fishershomeforsale.com (which is another domain name
I have but not the one I am trying to publish to) and also askes for username
and password (which it does not recognize my username and password). If I
try to publish fishershomeforsale.com, I don't have any problems it works
okay. Somehow, somewhere in the system it is taking the
fishershomeforsale.com domain name and always trying to us it to publish to.
Possibly I have corrupted some other files or something, because I had
everything working great a week ago. Any ideas?? thanks very much for your
help, I really appreciate it.

I see that too from File Edit w/ FP in IE

Your host has a DNS pointer or IP address registrar has an allocation problem
- contact them

The site fishershomeforsale.com has an IP address of 82.165.198.210
and your site woodieperkins.com has the same IP address 82.165.198.210
- that can not be

Current Registrar: ENOM, INC.
IP Address: 82.165.198.210 (ARIN & RIPE IP search) for
www.woodieperkins.com

The new block owner of the IP address is Schlund + Partner AG
Current Registrar: ABACUS AMERICA, INC. DBA NAMES4EVER
IP Address: 82.165.198.210 (ARIN & RIPE IP search) for
fishershomeforsale.com

Correction
It is the DNS server or FP SE at the server IP 82.165.198.210 that has crossed pointers
