Confused from Surrey

Having just purchased a new PC together with software etc etc I got home and
loaded the new Windows Office 2007 software.

I wanted Word, Excel and Outlook. Regretably I do not have Outlook but
Powerpoint instead. Having mistakenly bought the Home and Student version
instead of the Standard version I wondered what can I do?

Assuming I cannot replace the software can I purchase an upgrade from Home &
Student to Standard? If not, what else can be recommended?

Please advise.

Thanks

The first thing I'd try is to tell your software vendor you've made an
error and picked the wrong version, ask if there's some option
available.

It may not work but it's worth a try.

Are you in the UK Surrey or the Canada Surrey or some other Surrey?

If you are in North America, and if you have a retail copy of Office
2007 (not an OEM copy that came preinstalled on your new computer by the
computer manufacturer), then you might be able to get a refund from your
retailer or from Microsoft. See
http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.asp for more
information.

Office 2007 Home and Student Edition is a qualifying product for upgrade
to Office 2007 Standard Edition, and the suggested retail price for the
upgrade is US$239. But it would be cheaper for you to purchase a
standalone copy of Outlook 2007 (suggested retail price is US$109.95)
and add it to your existing Office 2007 HSE, assuming of course that you
can live with the non-commercial use limitation of Office 2007 HSE.

There is no upgrade version available for Outlook alone so that's out. It
runs about $109. To be honest with the the cost of HSE + Outlook as a
standalone will cost you less than if you return the HSE (assuming you can)
and buying Office Standard. Plus you'll have PowerPoint and OneNote.

This assumes that you are using it for non-commercial use, of course.
