Puzzling issue with Word documents!

About 3 weeks ago I noticed that sometimes word documents in the "my
documents" folder or desktop would not open unless I restarted the PC. Once
I restart the PC they load fine for a day then they stop working again. The
weird part is that if I open word itself and open a document from inside word
it works everytime... Word email attachments also have hard time opening
unless I restart. I have no adware or viruses on my machine. Any Ideas this
is very frustrating.

Information about the Versions of Word and Windows should be part of all
requests for assistance...

Are you getting any messages when the abnormal behavior kicks in? Can you
describe exactly how it's not working, please? Does Word, for example, start but
the document not open? Is this only in "my documents" and the desktop, or
generally? Is the problem only with Word documents, or does it happen with other
file types, as well?

Cindy M,

First thanks for trying to help me. I get no error message. It happens
with all office document (word, xl etc.). The other day I uninstalled office
and reinstalled. It worked fine for about two days. It does not matter if
they are on the desktop or in "my documents" or even an email attachment. I
currently use Outlook express for email and I'm starting to think that it is
breaking office for some reason. (it worked fine tonight until I replied to
an email).. Could be a coincidence, maybe I should switch to Microsoft
outlook for email? When I click on a document nothing seems to happen but I
do get the hour glass. I've noticed that if I wait long enough, the document
will eventually open. I hope this makes sense.

Any thoughts??

I know so little about email programs, and what they could do to a system, that
I'm afraid I can't even offer an opinion about your observation

My recommendation would be to ask in the office.setup newsgroup. You'll
encounter more "sytems-savvy" people there with whom this may ring a bell.
