Re-Install of Office 2000 upgrade

I am trying to re-install MS Office 2000 (it was an
upgrade)on my new computer. It will not install because I
do not have any older MS office products on the new
computer.I am reluctant to take anything off the old
computer because it was very unstable (maybe contracted a
worm or virus)My copy of MS Office 2000 pro is a legal
copy, and it seems to me there must be a way I can
install it.

Not unless you have the physical media of a qualifying product - you cannot
just "take anything off" the old system and expect it to work. If the
qualifying product you used as verification for upgrade eligibility was
preinstalled on the old system, and you do not have any media, then you are
no longer licensed to use the upgrade and must purchase a new licence (i.e.
2003).

Please also be aware that the product you used as a QP is now part of the
upgrade licence (e.g. if you used Office 97 or 95 then that licence now
forms part of the upgrade licence). If you don't have the media (and OEM
installations are non-transferable anyway) then you have no choice but to
purchase a new licence.
