Really puzzled when I get "operation failed"

I've been using Outlook 2002 for a couple of years with no trouble (xp pro)
and last night out of the blue I get "operation failed" whenever I click the
"send/receive" button. I've changed nothing that I know of.
I seem to be able to send an email.... just not receive anything. I CAN
receive in Outlook Express... but all my files and contacts are in Outlook.
I checked to see if Outlook was still my chosen email program. It is.
Would anyone know what is going on and how to fix it?

Have you tried using the "Detect and Repair" option on the
HELP menu?

You may also want to try using the SCANPST.exe to check
your pst for any corruption. (Inbox Repair Tool).

How big is your PST?

I found this on Technet:

You Click "Send and Receive":

YEAAAAAA... It is working again! THANK-YOU!!!! I tried the repair thing
under help, but it didn't really do anything. Then I tried following the
directions from the file you sent the url for. After I rebooted, it worked
again!!! I'm not exactly sure what I did to either "break" it or "fix" it...
But it is working again. THANKS!
