Recover Text from any file

Help...
I opened a .doc file using Recover Text from any file
option. I then saved it. Now I can only access the file
showing the coding and not my original file. Is there
any way I can "undo" my silly mistake?

Hi, gnal,

If you had the "Always create backup copy" option checked in Tools > Options

Save before you did the ill-fated Save, Word will have made a copy of the

previous version of the file in the same folder, with a name like "Backup of
xyz.wbk". If you didn't have that option checked, and you didn't make a
manual backup somewhere, then your only copy of the document is damaged --
that's why you should keep the backup option checked!

If you have no backup, you'll have to (a) delete the "garbage" from the end
of the file and (b) reconstruct all the formatting, fields, etc. Sorry...
