recovering deleted data

I intentionally deleted some information from a Word 2000
file, closed the application, and shut down the machine.
Is there any way to recover this information?

Did you save the file when you exited? If not, the original text will still be there. If you did, you could check whether there is a backup version (.wbk) of the file in the same directory. The Tools/Options/Save option allows you to always make a backup, and you can set the time interval for AutoRecover - I set mine to 1 minute so I never lose more than 1 minute's work.
