Recurring Tasks on Saturdays and Sundays?

Hello,

I am trying to use Project to create a cleaning schedule for my home.
I used "Tools, Change Working Time" to change the working hours to M-F
8:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00
a.m. For some reason, I am unable to schedule any tasks that start on
Saturdays or Sundays and particularly no recurring tasks that start on
Saturdays or Sundays.

If I try to schedule a task for Saturday, it will give me an error that
Saturday is a non-working time and will move the task to a Sunday
start. If I try to schedule a task for Sunday, it will give an error
that Sunday is a non-working time and will move the task to a Monday
start. If I constrain the Saturday task to start on Saturday, it will
start on Saturday but not end until Sunday, even if it is only a
5-minute task.

The only way I have been able to get a task to recur on a Saturday or
Sunday is to use the "24-hour" calendar. I have searched the help and
the Microsoft website and it appears I am the only person to encounter
this problem. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

What version are you using? I tried your example in Project 2003 SP1, and it
worked fine.

Thank you for responding!

I am using "Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003 SP1"

....which I assume is the same version as yours. I just tried it again
starting with a clean template. The first thing I did was go to
"Tools, Change Working Time." I highlighted Monday through Friday and
changed to "Nondefault Working Time" of 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. I
highlighted Saturday and Sunday and changed them to "Nondefault Working
Time" of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

I am now able to schedule single tasks on Saturdays and Sundays without
error messages but when I put in recurring tasks, I am still getting
errors. Project will now schedule recurring tasks on Saturdays and
Sundays but will give me an error like "10 out of 10 occurrences of
this task are occurring during non-working times." Are you getting
this error message?

Similarly, once a recurring task on Saturday or Sunday is created, if I
try to edit the task by changing the amount of time the task will take,
I get an error message like "10 out of 10 occurrence of this task will
occur during non-working times. Click Yes to have Project reschedule
them during working times. Click No to not create these occurrences or
click Cancel to "stop the operation." If I click "Yes" it still seems
to keep them on Saturdays, however. Are you getting this error
message?

I confess I am relatively new to project and there may be something I
am doing wrong when I am scheduling recurring tasks.

Again, thanks!

Project Standard and Project Pro do have some differences, but I don't know
if they would affect this issue.

I have found that editing a recurring task once it has been created does not
work nicely (as you noted). But creating a recurring task on Saturday or
Sunday after first defining the working times does work for me IF I define
the duration to be 2hrs and explicitly define the start time (not just the
date) in the Start box. To see start times, go to Tools > Options > Views
and select a date format that includes time.
