Reducing the size of a presentation!

How can you save a presentation - say, 60mb - into a smaller file size so
that you can email. I have managed to convert into a "pdf" file but it takes
forever - copying and pasting from Powerpoint to Adobe Pagemaker then
converting to pdf. Any ideas anyone>

If you have Acrobat distiller set up, you don't have to go through Pagemaker.
You would simply choose Distiller as your "printer" and "print" your ppt
presentation. In Acrobat 7 (which we're just testing in our office now, so I
don't know all the details), I believe some of the animations and transitions
can be maintained. But I agree that you need to check your pix and make sure
that you've saved them as low-res pngs instead of keeping them at print
quality. Good luck!

Your website had a lot of great information. I wasn't sure, however, how
much of it was applicable to Power Point 2007. It appears that they must
have fixed some of their problems (probably thanks to the contributions of
yourself and other experts!).

For example, I didn't see anything about Fast Saves. Also, I believe that
PP 2007 will automatically downsize all images if you select a lower
resolution and click Apply to All, and it does allow you do compress the
photos when you save, even if you did bring them in as a photo album.

At this point, I have read so much and tried so many different things that I
am getting confused. I have finally succeeded in creating a slideshow with
an embedded WAV file, embedded fonts, and reasonable-sized pictures, but the
show is still quite large.

So, one question is: Has PP 2007 fixed a lot of the old problems? I sure
don't want to go back and convert all my pictures to GIFs, add pictures one
at a time, or run macros or an optimizer if it is no longer necessary.

One other thing I would like to do, and have not yet found an answer for, is
to "edit" my MP3 or WAV files to reduce the size. Most songs are 3 or 4
minutes long, and I may only need a minute or two worth of music. Do you
know of a way to do that?

Thanks, Steve. My 8.5 meg slide show is now down to 3.4 meg, with music,
embedded font (only the characters used), balloon text and several
animations. I found in another post that Windows Sound Recorder allows you
to cut out parts of the WAV files. It was very easy to use, but I will also
check out Audacity. Thanks again for your answers.

Steve:

I have a power point presentation with a wav file that 3.20 minutes long
which is a 40MB file. I do not wish to chop my Power Point file into two
files to send it out and I want to keep my music. Is there any way that I
can reduce this file, and keep my music. I have compressed the pictures.
