I bought Office xp for educators" and installed it
on/over Office 2000. Now the registration on the
components says: "unknown user" and "uninstalled version".
Has anyone experienced this?

Open Word and put in the Registered Owner information under Tools->Options.

Register the Office Suite and it should stop saying unregistered version.
