Registering a Smart Tag

N

Hey folks,

I can't get custom Smart Tags to work (be it my own code, or sample
code from MS website),

I compile it with VS 2003 .Net 1.1. I then put the key in the
registry just as MS's website says to (with the Filename string and
Managed dword set to 1). I then open PowerPoint or Excel...go to
Tools-->Autocorrect options, and the Office just hangs, and I
eventually have to terminate it. If I remove it from the registry, I
can get to Autocorrect options (but then of course the Smart Tag is
not recognized).

I know it's not my code because it happens to the MS sample code
also. Also, the free MS tools, Smart Tag Recognizer and Smart Tag
Explorer, both find it and show that it is working appropriatly.
Smart Tag Recognizer even recognizes sample text.

What could be going on here?

Thanks!
