Relationship between the XML and the XSN file

Hello,

I am trying to the learn XML and Infopath from the group up. My first
stumbling point is how is it possible to delete the template file (XSN) but
still be able to open up XML files created from that template. For example,
if I create just a simple template with a title and text edit field, how does
the XML file know what that title is and the location of the edit field once
the template file is deleted. I open the XML file up in notepad and the
title text is nowhere to be found...so where is it pulling that info from one
the XSN file it was based off of is gone?

Thanks
Nelson

Hi,

Your title is in your transform (xsl) file embedded in your xsn file. If
you delete your xsn and play with your xml alone, you will never be able to
display the document as you originally designed it in InfoPath.
You need to save your xsl (before you delete your xsn) to apply it against
your xml to be able to display it correctly.
