Reloading MS Office

A user in my office lost the path to Internet Explorer. I don't know how.
Someone else in the office loaded the MS Office 2000 uppdate to reestablish
the link. Now the user gets messages saying it is trying to load Norton
Antivirus and another software. I plan on reloading MS Office from the
original CD. Are there any problems in doing this?

Internet Explorer is not part of Microsoft Office.
