Remove baseline

Julie

Hi,
I am using MS Project v98 - and mistakenly saved with a
baseline before I had completed the plan. Is there a way
to remove the baseline?

TIA
Julie

Hi Julie,
There is no "remove baseline" feature in Project 98. So you have to display
all the Baseline fields :
Baseline Start, Baseline Finish, Baseline duration, Baseline Work, Baseline
Cost
and clear these column : select the column and press Ctrl + Del

NB : If you can wait for the plan completion, Project 98 will allow you to
save another baseline (and override the first one) without any problem...

Julie, you shouldn't have to... I'm assuming you want to remove it so you
can save it once you ARE done??? if this is correct, just wait until you
ARE done and save over the baseline you've already completed. That will
simply replace the origional baseline values with the currently scheduled
ones. Also, you have 11 different baselines. Baseline, Baseline1,
Baseline2... etc., so you don't need to "remove" it. Hope this was
helpful!!

Hi Brian

just a note - the 11 baselines didn't come into project until 2002 ... and
although in earlier versions you do have the ability to save multiple
interim plans they only store start & finish dates not costs etc like the
baseline fields do.

Cheers

Thank you much for the correction JulieD... I appreciate it, because I've
never worked with anything earlier than 2002 and did not know that. Learn
something new every day!!

There's really no need to delete one although the ability is included to
mollify people who want to. The existance of the baseline doesn't affect
any calculations or scheduling. All it is is a snapshot of the project as
you intend to do it for comparison purposes once you begin working. So if
you save one too early, before the plan is finalized, just ignore it. When
the plan is ready and approved, save a fresh baseline and it will overwrite
the old one.
