Removing menus

How do I get rid of the menu toolbar (I don't know what it's called) at the top of documents that lists "Document Elements, Quick Tables, Charts, SmartArt Graphics, and WordArt?" I prefer having as little as possible on the screen while I'm writing.

Thanks.

The Elements Gallery is something that can't be turned off or hidden, it can
only be collapsed. Even then the buttons remain fully displayed.

If you find that to be a problem (as many do) use Help> Send Feedback to
explain your preference to MS.

Thanks Daiya and CyberTaz,

Thanks to both of you for the advice - I've already sent feedback as you suggested. I have no problem with them adding new functions, but it's sad and annoying that with every new version I have to figure out how to turn that function off until or unless I want to use it. I'd rather not update, but I work with too many people who use the program.

Best,
