Removing password to modify

We had to recently let someone go and they have a presentation that has a
password to modify set. We need to access this presentation and make
changes. How can we get into it to modify without the password?

You can't. The password is there to prevent modification by unauthorized
user. You will get the password from the person who encrypted the
presentation.

There has to be way. Their departure was abrupt and not very amicable. They
have some anger and will not give up the password. This presentation is
roughly 300 slides and we don' t want to have to reproduce it from scratch.
