Renaming hyperlinks

Is it possible to rename a hyperlink to a file? What I get is the full path name, which can be unwieldy at times.

You can type into and change the text of the link (be
sure to retain the FILE:// prefix) but the link will no
longer work. URLs are absolute paths and ON has no basis
from which to determine a relative path.

The fact that you can change the link text and ON will
continue to try to activate the URL makes me think there
is a workaround of some type. I'll experiment and report
what I find out...

You can do relative hyperlinks by editing the link text
(as I mentioned below) but the referenced file must be in
the same directory as the *.ONE file in which the link
appears.

Otherwise the full path name is necessary to find a file
stored in a location outside of "My notebook".
