repair problem

win98se, Office 2k (sr-1)pro..

Need to run repair.
Suggested, by MVP, I go through CP to do this.
Problem is machine is hanging/not responding when I get into Maintenance
Mode and click on "Repair errors in----", then click Finish.
Have to Ctrl, Alt, Delete and close out of process..

I think I'd try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and then
re-install Office:
