I have 2 situations with 2 different computers which shows identical problem.
1st issue is with Microsoft office 2003 with 2 different log in user on 1
computer using Windows XP Professional. When logged in as Admin (1st user) i
can access any office files just by double clicking the document that i want
to open, and the application will start automatically and shows the document.
However when a user is logged in as Guest, opening the file that is saved on
the harddisk or open from online source, a windows installation prompt will
appear leading to another prompt saying Microsoft Office 2003 encountered
problem with the Office Source Engine. System error 2147024891. the
application starts but the document would not be shown. However if i leave
the application open, then i click the file again, only then the file would
show up in the corresponding application.
2nd issue is also with Office, with only 1 user. The same problem as the
above occured after there was installation of Microsoft Publisher 2002. If I
open any office file by double clicking on it, the installation window will
appear, and then says the file could not be located, then it opens the
application without the file to be viewed. Same as the above, the file could
only be viewed when it is opened the 2nd time, or when the application is
started up first, and then open the file to be used manually.
This is a waste of time if one has to start up the application instead of
having the shortcut of clicking just the file to be ammended. Also the
installation prompt when clicked on OK, it will start to gather information
everytime i open file after closing the application. It happens everytime.
