Reports

I am currently using a global resource file to share resources across all of
my projects. I am now trying to run a report which shows only the resource
usage for one of the projects. Is there any way to filter the resource usage
report so that it only shows the allocation for one rather than all of the
projects?

Thank you,
Jenny

Jenny,
Sure, filter on the Project field of the Resource Usage view of the
common resource pool file.

You might also like to look at Project's grouping function, particularly
if you want summed up values for a single project. Go to Project/Group
By/More Groups. Then create a new group with the first grouping level as
the Project field and the next grouping level as the Name field. Check
the box to Group assignments, not resources and then change field type
for the Project field to "assignment".

Hi Jenny,

Unfortunately, modifying the Resource Usage *report* with a filter on
assignments is somewhat difficult.

That being said, you should be able to get what you seek by applying a
filter to the Resource Usage view and then printing the view. Add the
Project field to the table (left side) through Insert Column. Then turn
on autofilters using the Autofilter button on the Formatting toolbar.
Select the name of the Project file from the autofilter drop-down and
that should filter out any assignments from the other project files.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Jenny,

Yet another thought. Sometimes the easiest answer is the one I overlook
:). To print out assignments from only one Project file, just open
that single project file and when the prompted about opening other
files, choose "Do Not open other files."

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks for the information. I actually managed to print the report by telling
the one project to use it's own resources rather than the pool file. I then
re-linked them after I had printed the report
