I am self-taught and been pretty sucessful so far with FP2003 except
now I am having trouble publishing the site to my ISP (In this case,
free hosting space from my ISP, Comcast). First I attempt to create a
Remote User Site and insert the remote site location provided by my
ISP. I am then told "No Remote Site exists at that location would you
like to create one?" and I respond YES.

It then responds with the statement "There is no web named "/" . My
guess is I am somehow not identifying my web correctly to the remote
server - any help with this one please !?

TIA

Dear Nightcrawler,
Addressing this exact issue, Microsoft has created "FrontPage
extensions". These are a set of tiny applications that monitor, update,
repair, and provide access to your site. The hosting company must
install these on your site if my first solution, below, is to work.

Open FrontPage. Click File -> Open Site... and select the local web (on
your computer) that you would like to publish to the web.

Next, select, File... Publish Site... - the Remote Web Site Properties
window pops up. You have 4 choices for Server type - select FrontPage
or SharePoint Services. In the text box below it, type in:

http://yoursite.com (y'know, it's not yoursite.com, write in your
domain name)

and hit OK. Your machine will contact the server, and the server will
ask for a username and password. These are supplied by the hosting
company. A small window will pop-up; enter them there.

Your view will then be split - local site on one side, remote web site
on the other. Make sure the radio button "Local to Remote", at bottom,
is selected, and click the Publish Web Site button. There is a progress
meter at the bottom.

If that doesn't work, you will have to use FTP. Same as above, but the
remote server type is changed to FTP, and the location you type in will
resemble ftp://ftp.yoursite.com - again, respond to the password
prompt.

If that fails, get a third party FTP client (many good free ones out
there) - set up a connection to the hosting company folder, and upload
them that way.

Good luck, Nightcrawler, keep us posted.
