Rescheduling tasks to start today

B

Brian Michalk

I am jumping into the middle of an existing team and am setting up some
metrics to get a feel for how much each person is assigned and so forth.

I have entered all the resources and tasks and sort of used a person
(resource) as the criteria for linking the tasks according to the task
priority. From there I want Project to schedule out into the future how long
it will take a person to complete his tasks.

I would like Project to look at the % complete, and move that task to before
today, and reschedule the resources remaining tasks.

It looks like I could either use "status date", or
tools->tracking->update_projects for this. Is this the best way to do this?

Also look at Tools/Options/Calculations (tab)
There you have option of how to spread finished an unfinished work.

If you want to get bold, also turn on automatic resource leveling,
Tools/Level Resources... select automatic. We don't do that here, we favor a
manual leveling approach to be certain no one is overloaded.
