resetting the open Read-Only message

L

Lindy

I'm using Word 2002. Let's say I open a document that has
the "recommend opening as read-only" option selected. I
choose to open it as read-only, but then I realize that I
need to make a change to the doc. I close it and try to
reopen it (as NOT read-only); however, I don't get the
prompt that lets me choose. Word automatically reopens
the doc as read-only. How can I reset this so that I can
open the doc for editing?

Try saving the file again locally to your hard disk with the same name
replacing the Read Only file. Close and Open again.
