Resizing Diagram Inhibits OLE Link

Initially, I found that OLE linking to a Visio diagram
(using the "Paste As Link" option) didn't work if the
source file (Visio diagram) was from a UNC path. I was
provided the workaround below (suggesting that I 'group'
the shapes first), which worked great.

[See the thread titled "How do you select a specific Visio
tab when 'Inserting Object' into Word doc?" from July 15,
7:45 am]

Now, I'm finding that when linking other Visio diagrams
into my Word document (also via the workaround that groups
the shapes first), some of them paste in HUGE, and I have
to resize them. Resizing them somehow inhibits the link,
and updates to the source file are not reflected in the
Word doc. (Not only are they not reflected, they show
just a tiny, tiny piece of the entire Visio diagram!)

What can I do? Any help is much appreciated!

WORKAROUND:

The other method is to workaround the earlier Paste as
Link problem.
The "Paste As Link" works from a UNC path only if the
selected shape is a single shape and will not work for
multiple-selected shapes.

What we can do is to:

1. Select all the shapes in the Visio drawing, right-click
the selected
shapes and Group them (Shape\Group). You can still edit
each individual
shapes within the Grouped shape.
2. Copy the Grouped shape
3. In Word, Edit \ Paste Special
4. Paste as Link should appear then

Does this help a little?
