Resource pool error

Hi.
I hope you guys can help me with a frustrating problem I can't seem to find
an explanation for.
I have 6 project files linked to a main resource pool using MS Project 2003
that worked fine for a short time until I started to get this error.

The file cannot be opened.
Check that the file name and path are correct.
Check that the file format is recognized by project.
Project files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft project 98 can’t be
opened.

It’s baffled our IT team too.
I will be grateful for any assistance you can give.

I suspect that what you're seeing is normal. Shared Resource Pools get
corrupted very easily. I don't know for sure if it can be prevented by
using strict protocals for adding and removing tasks and resources. I
haven't had a chance to create a real one from scratch and see what
happens over time. But having a Resource Pool lock up is pretty normal,
in my experience. Seems like yours just happened a little sooner than
most.
The best fix I know is to disconnect all projects from the Resource
Pool. Save them all in Access. Then recreate them from Access, and
re-create the Resource Pool.
Hope this helps in your world.
