Resource question

I added all my resources in, and am trying to assign them to various tasks. I
have one guy working 24 hours on one ite and 16 on another. How ever when
Iassign him, it breaks it down to 4.8 hours for five days and 3.x for five
days. I want it to show three 8 hour days on one task and 2 8 hour days on
another. Am I missing something really simple?

hi,

When you assign or remove people from a task, Microsoft Office Project 2003
lengthens or shortens the duration of the task based on the number of
resources assigned to it, but it does not change the total work for the task.
This is called effort-driven scheduling and is the default Project uses when
you assign resources to tasks.

As resources are added to a task, the total work on the task stays the same.
However, the amount of work distributed to the resources assigned to the task
changes.

Hi,

There is a way to make Project assign resource the way you want it.
Insert a column "Work"
Enter the work values before assigning the resources
Now assign the resources, durations get recalculated.
