I have drawn up an MSP schedule in which i have ten tasks that will all take
5 days in total-(start to start) so that the duration is 5 days, and i assign
a resource called "process analyst" to all 5, MSP gives me a resource usage
of 50 days for that resource, how do i tell MSP that it is the same resource
and that the activities are taking place in parralel?

If the tasks are keyed independently without predecessors they should all run
in parallel starting on the project start date.

Might you have Resource Leveling set to automatic? Tools/Level
Resources.... select manual.

Your resource (assuming one human) will be overloaded. Make the tasks fixed
duration and assign your resources with 10% units. 10 Tasks running in
parallel with a 10% utilization allows the resource to spend 0.8 hours/task
per day.
