Resource Usage Sheet - Help!

Good Afternoon All!

Can you tell me why some of the resource names and work hours are showing up
red.

I changed the hours last week that changed the columns from red to black.
Why do I see new over allocated red hours now?

It's simple. Something in your plan, caused by the the way it is
constructed, causes the resource(s) to be over-allocated. Project is
reporting that. To figure out why is difficult to impossible with the
information you provided. Sorry.

Red indicates that the resource is overallocated. Try leveling the resource
either manually or automatically.

Understood Rob.

I'll provide more data when I can. In the meantime, I'll try to solve this
issue and gather more details.

Thanks,

Lee

Try looking at the Resource Usage View. It will show you where the
overallocations are. (View/Resource Usage from the main menu).

I find it is best to level your resources from that view and to do it
manually. BTW, Project 2010 has a new Team Planner View which is even better
for this type of thing. I hope a public Beta will be out soon.

Hi Jim, Andrew and Rob

Are you saying that it's best to level resources manually? Do you mean by
changing the hours myself/manually while in the Resource Usage View? If so,
I've done that serveral times and my red indicators for overallocation goes
away. But the next day when I look at the Resource Usage View, new activities
are overallocated when they were not the day before.

For example, today I see that one of my activites that have 7 hours total is
red (the number that is). I understand that two activities are probably
taking place at the same time. How can I keep this from happening so I do not
have to change the times so that they do not over lap (ever).

A second example is that on day ONE my hours all total 8 hour for a working
day. On day TWO, I'll see several totals over 8 (16 hours for example). As a
result, the activity is over allocated. How can I keep this from happening.

I appreciate your help as well as Andrew's and Rob's

Good Morning,

What kind of information do you need from me? I'll try to be more specific
if needed.

Right now I'm reading the Step by Step MS Office Project 2007 book. I'm
responsible for over 10 projects some of my project plans have over 1500
lines of activities. All projects are in different stages etc. So it's pretty
demanding....

Thank you in advance for your help.
