Resource Usage View to Gantt View

It would be very nice to be able from the Resource Usage View to select a
specific Resource and then produce a Gantt View for that resource only. Of
course, applying filters such as date range would also have to work.
Obviously, I'm talking about doing this for a Resource Pool. When the pool is
large and multiple Projects are attached to it (it's my case), opening all
the projects into a single project is a pain and it is not necessarily all
the resources that need to have its own Gantt view.

Hi Bigbad,

In what sense is opening all projects into a master a pain?
It is an option when opening the pool, no effort is needed whatsoebver.

Hi HTH,

I know what you are talking about. My point is (and it musy be a combination
of PC and Network) it is a "pain" because:

My pool has 153 resources in it!
There is ~ 25 Projects connected to it.
Each Projetc has ~ 1200 tasks in it!
So, you can understand that the Unique Project once consolidated is huge and
also my suggestion follows a last week question where I was asking if it was
possible to get a Gannt view from a Resource Usage View. You guys offered me
a MACRO which I used but it is creating a Gantt view for each and every
resources which is not what I want! Basically, I would like to be able when I
look at my Resource Usage View, to select a specific Resource, filter a date
and produce the Gantt view accordingly.

Hi Big_Bad...

You could find everything you want in Project Server, in the "View Resource
Assignments" page.

Hi Gerard,

I think we are exploring new grounds here. I never heard about Project
Server before. I have just printed the About Project Server pages and it
sounds like this is "LA PATENTE" I'm looking for. Can you help by telling me
how to get Project Server? Is it licenses that we need to buy? Will the
current MS Project 2003 work with this specific application? I'm currently
working for a Development Engineering community and we are dying to schedule
our tasks properly. Basicaly our structure goes like this:
1- 5 distinct dept each producing ~ 4 to 5 MS Projects (tasks list)
2- Each MS Projects hold ~ 1000+ tasks in it.
3- We are sharing ~ 150+ different resources
4- I own the Resource File (pool)
We find the system useful but not enough "pro-active" as far as avoiding
resource conflicts is concerned. I believe Project Server would better serve
us. Am I right?

Keep up the good work. I'm very pleased with MS Office Online help desk what
ever you call it system!

Regards,
