Reverting to Word 2003

Last week I installed Office 2007. I'm sorry I did. It has drastically
reduced my productivity because of its radical redesign, which in my
opinion is not nearly as elegant as its predessors'. In too many
cases, what used to take one or two clicks now take several (showing
and hiding table gridlines, for example). And there are simple
functions, like placing a filename and path in a footer, that don't
appear to be possible at all.

It may be that the new interface is better for people who have never
used Word. For my part, I much prefer the old way. I would greatly
appreciate it if someone could describe or point me to a SAFE way to
go back to what I consider the superior product, Office 2003. I'll be
happy to take the loss on my investment if it means I can get some
work done.

Thanks in advance,

We all seem to be most comfortable with that which we have used for
awhiile so, arguably, you might get used to 2007 over time but that
wasn't your question.

It has frequently baffled me why M$ has to greatly complexify their
products with each ensuing revision.

Nevertheless, go into <control panel>, <add remove programs> and
remove Word (or Office) 2007. Once it's gone, reinstall 2003.

Reasonably straightforward.

Good luck and let us know how it went.

Wondering

To insert a path and file name in a footer. Insert/Header & Footer/Footer.
Then select your footer style. Then in the footer in the "Type text" place
holder, double click if necessary. The Header & Footer Tools heading appears
above the ribbon. Then Design/Insert/Quick Parts/Insert Field. Select
Filename from the drop down list. Then, if desired, check "Add path to
filename". Done. I didn't look this up anywhere. The ribbon is so
intuitive, it makes it easy. I think you just gave up because Word 2007
looks different.
